Let’s Talk About It…

The image of the 21st century female should be confident, loving, beautiful and successful. When you look around the world, despite progress, better laws, education and income, up to 70% of women experience violence in their lifetime. Global surveys indicate that about half of women who die from homicide are killed by their current or former husbands or partners. There is a solution. It starts by talking about why this is.

  1. Here are a few statistics you probably don’t care about or know about. The costs of intimate partner violence in the US exceeds 5.8 billion per year. Approximately 4.1 billion for medical costs and 1.8 billion in lost productivity. Men who as children witnessed their parents domestic violence were twice as likely to abuse their own wives than sons of nonviolent parents. There are critical signs of behavior that can lead to domestic violence. For example, someone who is controlling, someone who questions your where abouts and your activities and someone who uses words to down grade you. Lets talk about this. Recognize the signs early and remove yourself from involvement with this type of individual. I know that this is easily said then done, but ignoring these signs and making excuses for an abuser only continues the cycle. I have personally expericenced this.
